What If?

What if, we did it God’s way?
What if, everyone had no other gods before Him
What if, everyone honored their father and mother
What if, we didn’t kill
What if, there was never adultery
What if, we didn’t steal
What if, every week we took a day of rest
You say, this can’t happen
But I say, what if
What if, we did it God’s way?
What if, every marriage ended when death did them part
What if, every pregnancy ended in a birth
What if, we loved our neighbor as ourselves
What if, we loved ourselves as God loves us
What if, we never had to turn the other cheek
What if, we forgave the way God forgave
What if, this day’s bread was enough
What if, we all walked the narrow path
You say, this will never happen
But I say, what if it could
What if, we did it God’s way?
What if, those mourning would be comforted
What if, there were none that were persecuted
What if, we loved our enemies or had no enemies
What if, we didn’t worry about tomorrow
What if, I didn’t judge you and you didn’t judge me
You say, this could never be
But I say, what if it could
What if, we did it God’s way?
What if, we treated the earth as a creation of God
What if, we realized who made every sunrise and sunset
What if, we believed without seeing
What if, we helped those in need
What if, we asked for help when in need
What if, every child was loved
What if, every senior adult was appreciated
What if, every life was considered precious
What if, we saw people’s hearts and not the color of their skin
What if, we didn’t go to worship, but we worshipped to and from
What if, we studied God’s word
What if, we knew God’s word
What if, we shared God’s word
What if, lived God’s word
What if, we all had faith, hope, and love
You say, this will never happen
But I say, what if it did
What if, we did it God’s way?
What if, everyone in the world did it God’s way. A bit presumptuous
What if, everyone in America did it God’s way. A tad naïve
What if, everyone reading this did it God’s way. Wouldn’t it be nice
What if, the person writing this did it God’s way. It’s a place to start
What if, we did it God’s way?
Would our world be different
Would our country look the same
Would your life be transformed
Would my life be better
But you say, there is no God
But I say, what if we lived as there was
But you say, there are many gods
But I say, what if we lived as there wasn’t
But you say, we have never lived this way
But I say, what if we had
But you say, we never will
But I say, what if we did

What if, we truly did it God’s way?
